The Richmond Wrecking Belles —Sheila E.R., #80
Sheila ER’s is an old familiar tale: a young awkward girl is discovered skating in the mall, an Orange Julius in her sticky inexperienced hand, and her life is changed forever. It was that chance encounter with Prince that would become her defining moment. She had noticed him right away as he entered the food court, though wearing a disguise, there was no mistaking his style and animal grace. The mall temperature increased 10 degrees instantly. She watched him intently as he carried his tray of Panda Express to a table. It wasn’t until his dancer like movements suddenly became somehow more desperate; less controlled, that she new something was very wrong. Sheila sprung into action, skating faster than she ever had before, dodging mallrats and leaping over strollers. She wrapped her surprisingly strong arms around the petite musician and expertly performed the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging a large piece of egg roll that had been blocking his airway. It was in this instant that Sheila first realized her gift for healing and her potential as a jammer. She toured with Prince for some time but eventually abandoned life on the road to attend nursing school and play roller derby with the Wrecking Belles full time. She and Prince are still close, and to this day her only known weakness is the sound of doves crying.
